MIZUNO WAVE RIDER β DYED BY BUAISOU

MIZUNO WAVE RIDER β DYED BY BUAISOU

The special model "WAVE RIDER β DYED BY BUAISOU," which is dyed using various indigo dyeing techniques by BUAISOU, an indigo master and dyer from Tokushima, will be released in Japan as well.

The "WAVE RIDER" series has been a driving force behind Mizuno Running for over a quarter of a century. The "WAVE RIDER β" was launched in spring/summer 2023 as a sports style category model with a 26th-generation sole that combines Mizuno Wave and Mizuno Energy, developed to enhance cushioning, stability, rebound, running comfort and the functional value needed for running, and a modern upper design inspired by past series.

For this special piece, we teamed up with BUAISOU, an indigo dyer and artisan from Tokushima, and combined materials dyed using a variety of indigo dyeing techniques.
The base material of the upper is made of a special mold made for this model, and the Lambard mark, the face of the brand, is made to stand out using a special indigo dyeing technique called "katajime (itajime)". The inner shell is given a rich design using a technique called "murakumo dyeing".
The eyelets and reinforcing parts feature a special design made especially for this model using a technique called “discharge printing,” in which the color is removed from fabric that has already been dyed. The hemp shoelaces and pigskin used on the collar and insole are all special specifications exclusive to this model.
As proof of this collaboration, the shoe features an original tongue label designed with inspiration from both brands, and the brand name is printed on the insole.
Each of these materials is carefully hand dyed by artisans to create a unique pair of shoes.
*The design was drawn by BUAISOU's Kakuro Kozo, and represents the impression that Mizuno gives of its products - high quality, and if they were to be likened to people, they are serious creators who are always seeking "good things" in a variety of genres, and who maintain the same sincere attitude as they have always had.

About BUAISOU
