Dr. Martens' first model, the 1460, commonly known as the "Eight-Hole Boot," was given the code name that came from the day it rolled off the production line on April 1, 1960.
Sometimes a modest work boot, sometimes an icon of subculture. As a fashion item that symbolizes the era, it is loved by a wide variety of people, from stylists to skaters, punks to poets, rockers to rude boys.
The "1460 Mono 8-hole boots" are finished in monotone with the upper, eyelets, shoelaces, sole, pull tag and welt stitching all in the same color. The upper is made of smooth leather with a soft feel.
