DELPHIN is a representative indoor training shoe from PUMA that began production in West Germany and Yugoslavia in the 1970s. It has been updated repeatedly depending on the year of production, and there are many variations on the vintage market with the same name but different details.
This collaboration model was created by KICKS LAB., a premium sneaker boutique that spreads Japanese sneaker culture from Harajuku to the world, with the concept of "rewinding the times." It samples the good old original colorway that was produced in West Germany at the time. It follows the details seen in the late 70s and inherits the combination of suede and nubuck that was also seen in past KICKS LAB. collaborations. It is a modern masterpiece with a calm dark tone.
Made in Japan (MIJ) products are made in Japan using carefully selected high-quality materials. The toe area, which is also a feature, is as voluminous as the original, recreating the beautiful, sharp silhouette that was unique to PUMA at the time. The craftsmanship of the artisans really shines through.
The suede upper is dyed in shades of navy, and the form strip running down the side is made of bright yellow nubuck. The sole unit uses a gum sole that is deeper than the original. The insole is colored black and white, which is also the store color of KICKS LAB. The side is engraved with a traditional gold foil print logo. The back of the shoe tongue is also engraved with the text "MADE IN JAPAN", which proudly shows that the product is made in Japan. The shoelaces come in the default yellow and navy that matches the upper.

The shoe samples the good old original colorway produced in West Germany at the time. The blue/yellow colorway is one of the most venerable colorways representing the 70s, and is found in many retro shoe archive models, not only by PUMA but also by other brands. This alone gives it a vintage feel that will make any enthusiast drool.

The upper is made of suede, which has a soft and elegant texture, just like the original. The high-quality materials used are a highlight of the Japanese domestic production. The original is a deep blue, but this model is dyed in a navy blue. It is finished in a darker color than usual so that you can enjoy the aging process.
The toe area, which is a major feature of this model, is as voluminous as the real vintage model, perfectly recreating the beautiful, sharp silhouette that was unique to PUMA at the time. The volume is almost the same as the real vintage model.

The insole design is not a plain design like the early 70s, but rather a current PUMA logo with a similar pattern, based on the PUMA logo design seen in the late 70s. It is colored in KICKS LAB.'s store colors of black and white.
The sole is the "contact No. II" sole, which is the same as the late 70's specs. A dark, dull gum sole was selected to match the navy upper. The color balance is more subdued than the original.
The shoelaces come in two colors: default yellow and navy, which blends in well with the upper, so you can change the shoelaces to suit your style or mood.
